Whites Cottage Homes
Independent living for ladies over the age of 60
The Charity retains the services of a part time Warden who keeps in regular contact with residents to facilitate their wellbeing and gives basic maintenance help. In addition, the Charity maintains a life care call system which, in an emergency, such as sudden illness or after a fall, enables a resident to get help quickly.
The flats are located in 3 large Victorian buildings and stand in their own grounds. They are within easy walking distance of the town centre. Close by is New Road Surgery, a bus stop and post box.
The Charity is administered by voluntary Trustees. Day-to-day management is carried out by the Clerk to the Trustees and supplemented by a twice weekly visit from the Warden.
Weekly Maintenance Contribution (WMC)
Residents do not pay rent and are not tenants of the flats. They are beneficiaries of the Charity and occupy the flats as such. Each resident makes a Weekly Maintenance Contribution (WMC) to the Charity which is payable monthly in advance by:standing order, direct debit or credit transfer. Details of the current WMC can be obtained from the Clerk.
